About Us

A lifelong passion for scale modelling

I've been building scale models for as long as I can remember. Aviation, historical accuracy and the challenge of recreating every little detail have always fascinated me.

In 2022, I decided to design a Griffon-powered Spitfire conversion for my own collection. Quite simply, it was a version I wanted to build, and the conversion I needed didn't exist.

What started as a personal project soon became something much bigger.

From a personal project to Laminar Flow Design

I created a Facebook page to share the progress of my Spitfire conversion with fellow modellers.

One thing led to another, interest grew, and before I really knew it, Laminar Flow Design was born.

There was no grand business plan. Just a modeller wanting to make something that didn't exist.

Still the same passion

Fast forward to 2026, and the motivation hasn't changed.

Laminar Flow Design is still driven by the same desire: to create high-quality conversion and detail sets that expand the possibilities of existing model kits.

The idea isn't to reinvent an entire kit, but to take an already excellent starting point and make it possible to build something different, something that wasn't available before.

Every project begins with the same question: Wouldn't it be great if someone made this?

And sometimes, that someone ends up being me.

And that first Spitfire?

Well, here's the funny part.

Four years later, after designing conversion sets and launching Laminar Flow Design, I still haven't found the time to finish that original Spitfire I started back in 2022.

But I'll get around to it.

One day.

Probably.
